For moderately temperate climates with a mild or shorter winter, heat pumps which operate on electricity can be an energy-efficient solution to electric resistance or gas heating. The technology can seem almost magical to people who grew up with an oil furnace or a woodstove – particularly the energy savings over these conventional systems.
